This year’s World Literacy Day was a three-day affair. It was filled with excitement, learning and the joy of reading! The event was held from 9 September to 11 September. It aimed to emphasise the importance of literacy in shaping our students’ futures and developing their lifelong learning habits.

The day kicked off with a Book Swap activity. Book corners were set up in every level of the upper primary for students to choose a book of their choice and read. From engaging individual reading  to book-sharing circles, each class had the opportunity to explore different genres, authors and themes. All the classrooms were buzzing with various literacy-related activities such as designing book covers and book quiz. The highlight of the event was the ‘Book Character Parade,’ where students dressed up as their favourite characters, bringing literature to life. The joy on their faces was undeniable as they proudly presented their costumes and explained the books that inspired their choices.

The lower primary presentations were another level where parents were super excited and prepared story telling sessions for the students where students were transported into the magical worlds of their favourite books.

We are proud to say that this year’s World Literacy Day celebration was a great success, not only promoting a love for reading but also fostering a sense of community through shared literary experiences. We hope our students continue to embrace the world of books with curiosity and enthusiasm!
